What is Contact Lens Exam?

A contact lens exam is a separate measurement from a glasses exam. Contacts sit directly on the eye, so the lens has to match the curve of your cornea, the health of your tear film and the way you wear them. Dr. Larson fits soft, toric (astigmatism), multifocal and rigid gas permeable lenses.

How does it work?

Dr. Larson measures the surface of your eye, reviews your tear film and talks through your routine. You try lenses in the office, she checks how they move and center, and a follow-up confirms the fit. Your lenses can then be ordered through the Walmart Vision Center.

What are the benefits?
  • Clear, stable vision without glasses
  • Toric lenses for astigmatism and multifocals for reading
  • Rigid gas permeable lenses for crisp optics
  • A dry eye check so lenses stay comfortable

comfortable all day with a proper lens fit

If your contacts feel dry by afternoon or blur when you blink, the lens may not be the right match, or dry eye may be the real problem. Because Dr. Larson focuses on dry eye care, both can be evaluated together.

frequently asked questions

Why is a contact lens exam separate from a glasses exam?

A glasses prescription does not include the measurements needed for contacts, like lens curve, diameter and material. The fitting confirms the lens is healthy and comfortable on your eye.

Can I wear contacts if I have astigmatism?

Yes. Toric soft lenses and rigid gas permeable lenses both correct astigmatism.

Can I wear contacts if my eyes are dry?

Often, yes. A different lens or treating the underlying dry eye can make a big difference.

Where do I buy my lenses?

Contact lenses are available through the Walmart Vision Center where the office is located.
