What is Dry Eye Treatment?
Dry eye disease is more than occasional dryness. It can cause burning, grittiness, redness, watery eyes and vision that comes and goes. The most common cause is meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), where the oil glands in the eyelids stop working well and tears evaporate too fast.
How does it work?
Care starts with a dry eye evaluation, including tear break-up time and analysis on the Topcon Tera, to detect, grade and track your ocular surface disease. From there, Dr. Larson builds a plan around what is driving your symptoms, which may combine OptiLight, OptiLIFT, punctal plugs, amniotic membrane therapy and at-home care.
What are the benefits?
- A measured diagnosis, not guesswork
- Punctal plugs to keep natural tears on the eye
- Amniotic membrane therapy to help the surface heal
- OptiLight IPL and OptiLIFT, coming late November
a powerful combination
Dry eye usually has more than one cause. OptiLight and OptiLIFT treat different parts of the problem, and together they do what neither does alone.

OptiLight IPL
Calms the inflammation. Intense pulsed light reduces ocular inflammation, ocular rosacea and the abnormal blood vessels that keep dry eye going.

OptiLIFT
Gets the oils moving. Radiofrequency melts the thickened oils of meibomian gland dysfunction, while muscle stimulation lifts and tightens the lids for a better blink, so the oils can actually flow.
Both treatments arrive at Eye See in late November.

find the cause with Topcon Tera analysis
Artificial tears help for a few minutes, but they rarely fix the cause. Green Bay winters, furnace heat and long screen days make dry eye worse. A dry eye evaluation shows exactly what is happening on your eye's surface so treatment can target it.
